Kevin’s Reopens in Red Hook After Sandy, and Clarkson Opens Near Hudson Square

Red Hook seafood restaurant Kevin’s reopened on February 22 after receiving funds from Restore Red Hook and Lucky Ant, a crowdfunding website, Serious Eats reported. Chef Kevin Moore and his team repaired floors, sheetrock, and wainscoting that was ruined from Hurricane Sandy flooding. Red Hook Marble Company donated a brand-new bar. Forty2West, an Italian restaurant and steakhouse from chef John Di Lemme, opened on Tuesday near Rockefeller Center. The menu features a raw bar of local oysters, chilled crab, fluke crudo, and a “shellfish bouquet,” which offers a bit of everything. Fried quail, lamb ragu, halibut, and the usual chophouse cuts and sides are also on the menu. 42 W. 48th St.

Clarkson, a new “American seasonal” restaurant from George Forgeois, the same restaurateur who owns Bar Tabac and Cercle Rogue, opened on Varick Street last week. The dining room is filled with antique furniture from all over the world. Executive chef Rebecca Weitzman is serving steak tartare, short ribs, and poached lobster. 225 Varick St.

Matt Levine and Michael Shah, the owners of Sons of Essex, have opened a weekend-only pop-up nightclub on the third floor of 61 Gansevoort St. #HOOKxNail will act as a preview of their upcoming Meatpacking District lounge, Rowhouse Inn. The club will stay open Friday and Saturday nights from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., according to Zagat. 61 Gansevoort St.

Soho wine bar Clos New York opened over the weekend and is serving 60 wines by the glass, Eater learned. Mine Ayberk, a consultant for private wine cellars, is behind the bar. The tiny space features a long horseshoe-shaped bar, and soju and sake cocktails are on the menu too. Clos opens at 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, but weekenders can start early at noon. 64 Kenmare St.
