At least in America, Travis (and singer Fran Healy) benefited from the blush of Britpop’s mildest wave, the same swells that soon became the Coldplay boredom tsunami. And while Travis is still around, Healy seems happy to keep on rolling with the mild-mannered mojo that was his band’s most successful calling card. Wreckorder, his occasionally instrumental, largely introspective solo debut, delivers a winking smile from its cover that screams, “This hat is jaunty, my relationships are thoughtful, and I just gave your mother the best hug she’s had in ages.” Do you feel better or more bored now?
