Canada’s flagship indie collective Broken Social Scene traveled to Chicago to make this year’s Forgiveness Rock Record with John McEntire of Tortoise, and now the band is out on a North American tour with one of McEntire’s other groups, the Sea and Cake, as opening act. Expect an evening as long on instrumental texture as on melody: Both Forgiveness Rock Record (which also features input from McEntire’s bandmate Sam Prekop) and the Sea and Cake’s latest, 2008’s Car Alarm, trick out their sleek post-rock tuneage with enough noodly post-rock bits to satisfy jam-band partisans and headphone fetishists alike.
