BRITTLE SISTER

by

Not as irascible as Martha, not as dauntless as Rufus, their half-sister Lucy Wainwright Roche (by papa Loudon Wainwright III) brings a sweeter side to the clan’s musical inclinations. This year, the 28-year-old Brooklyner won Best Folk/Singer-Songwriter Song at the Independent Music Awards (for the melancholic “Snare Drum”); a new album is in the works now, and will hopefully boast more minimalist cover art and solicitously emotional interiors. With the Roches and This American Life‘s incomparable Ira Glass.
