Dennis Miller: “Role models in the black community like that are about to be done in by a shooting star named Barack Obama…I for one am happy about Barack Obama, and I’m sorry Emphysema and Jay-Z could not join me in that happiness.”
Bill O’Reilly: “Emphysema? Is that-?”
Dennis Miller: “Did you say Little Weezy or something?”
Bill O’Reilly: “Little Jeezy. No–Young Jeezy. He may be little too. It might be a combination of youth and littleness.”
So excepting that these guys don’t even know the names of the people they’re talking about, and that O’Reilly is perfectly willing to attribute the whole scene to the desire of two incredibly wealthy individuals to “make money” (by doing what, exactly? Jumping on anti-Bush bandwagon 78% of the country has been on for the last four years?), and the rampant use of “they” and “these people” and all the other coded signifiers that lead people, in O’Reilly’s phrase, to label him “a racist,” what’s the piece of news here? That O’Reilly doesn’t “see an outcry”?
“The civility level that Obama is trying to bring to the discourse,” says O’Reilly, with zero irony, “is destroyed by these people.” I guess it just depends on who they are, right?
